A resin bound surface is made from a mixture of natural stones and a clear UV resistant resin. To ensure all of the aggregate is fully coated in resin, the liquid and stones are combined in a force-action mix process. The resulting mixture is then poured onto your Surrey driveway, patio or path.

Once this is poured into the relevant area, the mixture is then hand-trowelled to form a smooth surface with no loose stones. What is the difference between "resin bond" & "resin bound"?

There are two main techniques for using resin in Surrey driveways. Despite the similar names, there are some important differences:

Resin Bound - this involves the resin and aggregate being mixed prior to application. The mixture is then spread evenly across the chosen surface, drying to a very solid and even finish. A big advantage to this technique is that the drive remains completely water permeable.

Resin Bonded - this technique involves resin being firstly applied over the driveway, then a layer of loose stone is pressed into the top of this resin before it dries. This is a quicker and less expensive process but can often lead to loose chippings and an uneven finish. There is an added disadvantage in that the drive will no longer be water-permeable.
